Shooting Day 2!
The overall look. Our main character covered in bruises (done by Rebecca) wearing a simple white top |
Slightly bruised and bloody |
We learnt how to make bruises using tutorials on YouTube |
Battered and bruised |
Rebecca filling the container with water |
Our second location to film was Rebecca's house. Today we filmed David Dench (Berkay) being dunked into the 'ice-cold' water bowl. We also record some close up of props.

Preparing to film
In order to create realistic bruises, we researched on YouTube and watched other videos of makeup artists and many others creating bruises using makeup.

Planning - Polaroid Pictures.
Series of photos of Dench's Victims. |
These of the polaroid photos we took in the photography studios that will be used as a prop in our filming today. The photos are victim David Dench has killed.
The first picture depicts one of many Dench's victims, if you can see clearly she has bruises on her neck and her left eyes is also swollen, thanks to our very own make-up artist Rebecca for adding to the effects!

Planning - Production Schedule
Our production schedule of the weeks to follow. We learnt that planning our schedule was essential and the schedule allows us to keep on top of what we needed as well as what we planned to do that day.
The two title sequences that I thought was influential and relates to our very own title sequences are Se7en (1995), Die Another Day (2002) and The Stepfather (2009).
Allure storyboard Se7en (1995) |
Allure Storyboard Opening sequences of Die Another Day, torture scenes. |
As for the torture screen, Die Another Day has given us a few ideas in how to shoot the torture screen, what the atmosphere of the room should be like and what camera angles work best.
As for The Stepfather (2009) we will follow their order of credits.
The Stepfather opening. |
We also like the font in which The Stepfather uses, the font is a simple san serif font that clearly states the credits names and do not distract the film content. Fancy and over the top fonts will looks unprofessional and childish.

Planning - Name of the film.
The name of a film plays a very important role in creating a film. After research and possible suggestions like; Distraught, Unhinged, Mentis and many more. As a group we decided to name our film 'Allure'.
David Dench is an attractive young man, who uses his charm to lure in women and kill them. We thought Allure was the perfect name to reflect David Dench and the film.
David Dench is an attractive young man, who uses his charm to lure in women and kill them. We thought Allure was the perfect name to reflect David Dench and the film.
Synopsis: David Dench is young, handsome man who seeks pleasure by killing innocent women. Dench's dad was always a role model for him, however, little did he know that his father's action has made who Dench is today, a psychopathic serial killer. When Dench was young, Dench's dad use to abuse his mother and Dench used to watch secretly and liked the thrill. A young intelligent FBI cadet is now assigned to solve Dench's case but slowly as she investigate his case, she develops feelings for Dench.. just like all his other victims...
Title Sequence: The title sequence with be scenes from a torture room and includes quick flashbacks of the killer while he is getting tortured.
The title sequence opens with Dench sitting on a chair, unconscious and tied to a chair. To wake him up his hand is then pushed into a bowl full filled with ice cold water by an unidentified person. It then cuts into a flashback and a extreme close up scene where polaroid picture is scattered across the floor then quickly back into the scene where an unidentified person lifted his head up to let him breath, as he lifted his head up, it then zoom's into his eyes and then back to a flashback scene, then quickly back a scene where is hands are handcuffed into a pole, then a scene of a flashback of a passport and then back to the current scene where he is getting beaten up, then a flashback scene of a polaroid developing and in the photo depicts a women, then back into the torture scene then finally back into a flashback where he is stabbing another victim of his and she is falling to the ground in front of him and as she falls down, behind her is a man with a mask and a knife, then the camera zoom's into the mask and the film starts........

Physiological Thrillers are often targeted at 18+, however, the age we're aiming our film at is 15+ because the film will include violences and psychological issues which is unsuitable for minors but the content of the film will not be too explicit for an 15 year old.
We look to aim our film at women and men age 15+ who likes suspense, mysteries and psychological thrillers. The lead of our film is a male and female, the female will be investigation the male's (killer) case, this means will both appeal to women and men. The film will also include mind games and shooting which will appeal to males. The women heroine (lead investigator of the case) will attract women.
Target audience profile:
Meet Benjamin Scott, a 23 year old from Cheshire, NW England. Benjamin is in his final year of University studying Architecture. He enjoys watching horror films and thrillers every Friday night with his girlfriend at his dorm. His favourite films are 'Inception' and 'Batman Begins'.

Planning - Intial Ideas & mood board.
As a group, we had already decided to create a psychological thriller.
We did a brainstorm to help us generate ideas and before thinking of the film opening we need to come up with a narrative.
We all agreed Silences of the Lambs (1991) is one of the best psychological thrillers out there in the market and we should based out narrative similar to Silences of the Lamb, however, with our twist.
In our film, we wanted a psycho killer and a lead female like Silences of the Lambs.
To help us come up with a name for our film, we decided to go on thesaurus.com to help us with words associated with Physco.
Screen from Slumdog Millionaire (2009) where Dev Patel gets woken up by someone who constant dips his head in water. |
Rebecca suggested we looked at Die Another Day (2002) since the film started off with a torture scene.
Screens Shot from Die Another Day (2002) |
We wanted a torture screen of the killer with quick, close up of the killer's flashback, so we wanted the flashback to be in the style of Se7en (1995) film opening, where they had extreme close up of objects associated with the scenario.
Se7en screenshots. |
One of the books that inspired me to want to create a psychological thriller was Diary of a Serial Killer. The book uncovers the life of a serial killer, and his thoughts and feelings. It was very influential as it influenced us partially to want to create some sort of psychological thriller but as a group, we're still unsure of our overall concept.
